Thank you for your interest in the Master of Science in Global Media and Cultures degree, a joint degree between the School of Literature, Media, and Communication and the School of Modern Languages. 

Our M.S. GMC admissions process will be suspended for the 2024-25 academic year. We are dedicated to the restructuring and relaunch of the M.S. GMC degree in the 2025-26 academic year.

Eligibility and Application Materials

Eligibility Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from a U.S.-accredited college or university (current undergraduates should note their expected graduation date; all accepted students will be required to submit proof of graduation before they can matriculate and enroll)
  • Intermediate-mid level proficiency in the language of focus (tested using online interview)
  • TOEFL score at least 90 or above (required for all international students)

GRE Scores are not required for this program.

Additional Notes:

  • Students may be enrolled in a degree program at another university while also being enrolled in this program.
  • Students who apply to both the MS-GMC and MS-ALIS can request an application fee waiver for the second program to which they apply.

Funding Opportunities

We have a number of affiliated fellowship and graduate research assistantship packages, which are available on a competitive basis. For information about funding packages, please visit the Graduate Programs in Modern Languages Funding page below.

Funding Packages

In addition, we have provided a list of external fellowships that you may browse and apply to. These programs may or may not be affiliated with Georgia Tech, but we do offer advising on preparing fellowship applications for students who have submitted an application to the graduate program. Please make an appointment with Anastasia Lagmay to obtain advising on fellowship material preparation.
